5 tips for starting a business while working full time

Do you also walk around with a dream of being an entrepreneur, so you one day finally can work for just yourself?
A lot of people do, but they feel the task is too overwhelming to do while working full time.
It is hard! But here comes a list of 5 tips and tools that will make it easier for you to take on the challenge.

1. CHOOSE AN INDUSTRY YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT

This is probably one of the biggest cliches in the world, so please bear with me!
As already stated – it is extremely hard to start a business on the side, so you have to choose a line of work, that isn’t going to feel like work to you. This way, you can still feel motivated, to get home, and work on your project, even though you have just had a long day at work.
Working on your project should give you energy, instead of taking it away from you. If this is true, you are definitely moving in the right direction!

2. FIND YOUR OWN MOST PRODUCTIVE TIME OF THE DAY

Some people call themselves morning persons, some call themselves night owls. Whatever you are, you have to pay close attention to your own brain and notice, when it is working at its maximum level.
This way, you can know whether you should work on your project early in the morning or late at night.
Me for example, I am a morning person, so I dedicate about an hour of quality work on my blog before leaving for work every morning. This way, I will get use of my own most productive minutes of the day, instead of my boss.
Just knowing your own productivity tendencies throughout the day is going to help you a lot in general.

3. WORK WITH A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT SERVICE

I am using Fancy Hands at the moment for instance (even though I am considering taking the jump to Zirtual actually).
This makes it possible for me to get a lot done on my project, while I am doing my regular work!
I have my automatic processes, where I for example post a blog post before leaving my home, and then a lot of automatic requests are send to the Fancy Hands email request inbox – like “Pin the post to Pinterest“.
Sometimes I also think of random stuff like: “Uh! I wander what it would cost me to get one of my old articles translated from danish to english”. Then I just send an email request from my work mail, that tells the assistant to investigate the matter.
Outsoucing your work is simply fantastic!

4. MAKE IT EASY FOR YOURSELF TO REMEMBER IDEAS, WHILE AT WORK

You probably get a lot of ideas for your business during your workday, and you probably forget half of them again – unless you write them down!
Did you know that, if you have an Evernote account, you also have a personal mailbox, you can send your ideas to?
This way, you new ideas can be appended to a projects list, just by sending an email.
So find out what your personal Evernote inbox address is, and add it to your address book on your business mail client.
You will never let a good idea go to waste again.

5. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON YOUR WAY TO WORK

It never hurts to get smarter in general, and it definitely doesn’t hurt to get some new industry-specific knowledge on your way to work.

If you take the bus, you can browse through relevant blog post in your Feedly reader every morning. Or you can choose to send your posts to Sound Gecko, so you can listen to them while riding your automated bike or driving the car.
